Fillers Q & A
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are thick injectables that add temporary artificial volume to certain points on your face and hands. When placed under your skin, they feel similar to real subdermal fat and tissue. They include biocompatible ingredients that dissolve naturally and gradually over time and won’t harm your skin.
The team at Moulton Group PC places dermal fillers carefully in order to achieve a natural face shape. They can improve your facial symmetry or simply make up for lost volume. Your face and hands lose some volume because of the natural aging process, leading to sunken or bony areas and features that are less shapely.
With dermal fillers, the changes are immediate. You can enjoy your results right away and for months or even years after a treatment depending on the type of filler you get.
What are my options for dermal fillers?
Moulton Group PC offers four high-end dermal filler brands to transform your appearance to appear more youthful and vibrant. During your consultation, your provider can teach you about:
JUVÉDERM®
Juvéderm is a dermal filler brand that uses a smooth hyaluronic acid gel to add volume to your face. Hyaluronic acid exists in your body and helps your cells retain water. Most Juvéderm products also contain lidocaine to make the injections more comfortable for you. They last for 6-12 months in most cases.
Restylane®
Restylane is another hyaluronic acid dermal filler with a granular texture instead of smooth. Depending on their placement, Restylane injections can last for 6-18 months.
Radiesse®
Radiesse is a filler with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) as its main ingredient, a substance you can find in your bones. In Radiesse fillers, CaHA granules are suspended in a smooth gel. CaHA promotes natural collagen growth in your skin, resulting in lasting results for a year or longer.
Belotero®
Belotero is a soft hyaluronic acid gel yielding subtle results. It lasts for six months or longer.
What can dermal fillers do?
Dermal fillers can adjust the contours of your face and hands to appear more youthful and full. Specific changes you can make with dermal fillers include:
- Fuller lips
- Fuller cheeks
- Less prominent under-eye hollows
- Younger-looking hands
- More volume in your temples
You and your provider can come up with an appearance transformation plan using the dermal filler of your choice during your initial consultation. They might recommend other treatments, like BOTOX® or laser treatments, as part of a complete treatment plan.
